Dr Nic Holt

Nic Holt is an interventional gastroenterologist, with a niche interest in diseases of the bile ducts and the pancreas.

He graduated from the Australian National University Medical School, with distinction, in 2015. He has completed training in gastroenterology and then Advanced Endoscopy in his native Canberra, as well as St George Hospital in Sydney, and in Vancouver, Canada, where he undertook the prestigious Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at The University of British Columbia and Vancouver General Hospital.

He has settled in Canberra once more, and in addition to a Visiting Medical Officer appointment at The Canberra Hospital, Nic regularly travels to Gosford Hospital in NSW where he provides Advanced Endoscopy services.

Nic’s biggest clinical interest is in diseases of the pancreas and bile duct, but he also has expertise in dysphagia, Barrett’s oesophagus, small intestinal disease, gastrointestinal and bowel cancer screening, familial cancer, autoimmune diseases including Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

He teaches with The ANU Medical School and is involved in RACP training. He is actively involved in research, and has published book chapters and academic papers, as well as presenting at national and international conferences.

Aside from his professional interests, Nic is a passionate sports fan, with Rugby Union and Cricket his favourite sports. He lives in Canberra with his young family and his cantankerous dachshund, Bernie.
